Chris Williams has stepped down as Gar-Field High School’s head football coach after three seasons.

Williams went 3-27 overall. The Indians were 1-9 this season following a 0-10 season in 2015. Williams informed Gar-Field of his decision Nov. 11 and the team Monday.

Williams said he chose to leave for family and personal reasons.

Williams is a Gar-Field graduate who played on the Indians 1990 Group AAA, Division 6 state football champion. He was also all-state as a punt returner in 1992 and a member of Gar-Field’s 1992 Group AAA state baseball champion.

He replaced Tom Gryder as Gar-Field’s coach after the 2013 season in which the Indians went 0-10 for the first time in the program's history.
