Paced by four interceptions, Coweta rolled to a 33-14 District 5A-3 victory over East Central on Friday night.
Senior defender Corden Harrington hauled in two of the interceptions, including a 48-yard touchdown gallop in the third period to put the Tigers up 33-7.

Coweta scored in each of the first three quarters, while holding the Cardinals to touchdowns in the first and third quarters as they used a stubborn defense and the interceptions to post the big victory.

Harrington’s first interception set up Coweta’s first score, returning the ball to the Cardinals’ 21. Quarterback Braden Calico connected with younger brother Spencer Harrington for an 18-yard score with 6:30 left in the period. Kicker Gabe Reed added the extra point.

Striking quickly, East Central took the kickoff after the Tiger score with Bruce White returning it to Tigers’ 17 yard line after a 78-yard return. Quarterback Eric Crumb need just one play to find Chris Thomas open for a touchdown with 6:05 left in the period. Abraham Luevano added the extra point to deadlock the game at 7-7.

Junior linebacker Micah Thomas gave the Tigers their second interception, returning it to the Cardinals’ 30 with 10:55 left in the second period. A few plays later Calico scored from the seven with 9:23 to play in the half, with Reed again adding the extra point kick.

Tiger defender Dalton McDonald intercepted Crumb for the third time with 1:41 left in the half, returning the ball to the East Central 37. Calico completed the scoring opportunity a few plays later from 2 yards out with 36 seconds left on the first half clock. The kick was no good giving Coweta a 20-7 halftime advantage.

Receiving the second half kickoff, Coweta started at their 38 and the big play in the following drive saw Calico pitched to Spencer Harrington for a first and goal at the 6-yard line after a 17-yard run. Harrington scored on he second play with 9:00 left in the period completing the 62-yard drive. The extra point was blocked.

The Tigers scored their final touchdown on Corden Harrington’s second interception returned 48 yards to the end zone with 1:47 left in the period.

East Central used a fake punt pass on a fourth down. White carried over the right side for the four yard touchdown and Luevano kicked the extra point for the final 33-14 score.
