SPRING GROVE 70, LYLE/PACELLI 8

Spring Grove scored 62 points in the first half and rolled to a 70-8 victory over Lyle/Pacelli in 9 South District football action Friday night.

Spring Grove scored 35 points in the first quarter alone. Cullen Patterson had a huge game, returning the opening kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown. He also had six carries for 84 yards and three touchdowns. Kohl Vickerman finished with 94 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Quarterback Alex Folz completed 7 of 9 passes for 82 yards and two touchdowns. Both passing touchdowns went to Chase Grinde, who finished with three catches for 48 yards.

Spring Grove's Sam Sanness also blocked a punt and returned it for another score.


Spring Grove finished with 306 total yards, while L/P had 184.

Patrick Murphy had a big game for L/P, rushing for 137 yards on 29 carries. He scored the team's only touchdown and also grabbed three passes for 34 yards.

Spring Grove plays Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons (1-0) next Friday.
