Lady Hornets ‘get better’ at Russellville tourney
RUSSELLVILLE — The Bryant Lady Hornets played lost of volleyball on Saturday at the Volley N The Valley tournament and that, for head coach Beth Solomon, was perhaps the best thing about being having her young team there.
“Overall, we did what we needed to do Saturday. We got better,” she declared. “That’s what our goal was. Saturday also helped us get ready for this week.”
The Lady Hornets take on a pair of South Conference foes this week, visiting Sheridan on Tuesday and hosting Texarkana on Thursday.
Bryant went 1-1-2 in pool play at Saturday’s event. It was 25-21, 17-25 to finish the morning against Morrilton. Prior to that, it was 15-25, 25-19 versus Springdale Har-Ber; 18-25, 13-25 against Mount St. Mary Academy; and 25-8, 25-5 against Little Rock J.A. Fair.
In bracket play, the Lady Hornets edged Alma, 25-20, 23-25, 15-12 before Russellville ended their bid for the title, 20-25, 13-25.
