For most teams, Week 3 brings the final tune-up before the start of district play, so they come into this week with two big goals: 1. Get better; 2. Stay healthy. Not necessarily in that order.

For a few teams, this week is a preview of possible future playoff matchups, like we see in the first two games on The Oklahoman's top games of Week 3:

1. Class 5A No. 4 Ardmore (2-0) at 5A No. 2 Carl Albert (2-0)

Sure, it's early, but these two have earned their spots among the best in 5A.

2. Class 3A No. 3 Sulphur (3-0) at 3A No. 2 John Marshall (1-1)

John Marshall had to rally for a regular-season victory last year, but Sulphur pulled out a close one in the playoffs. Budding rivalry?

3. Springdale (Ark.) Har-Ber (2-0) at Class 6A-I No. 1 Jenks (3-0)

Oklahoma's best team will take on one of the highest-ranked Class 7A teams in Arkansas.

4. Class 4A No. 7 Cascia Hall (2-0) at Class 2A No. 4 Millwood (2-0)

High school notebook: Mark down a 'W' for Edmond Memorial in Edlam rivalry
Both teams have stepped up in class to win games this season. Can Millwood play big-boy ball again?

5. Class 4A No. 4 Heritage Hall (2-0) at 2A No. 2 Davis (1-1)

The only sad thing about this matchup of powerhouse programs — which is several years running now — is that there aren't more like it in the first three weeks of the season.

6. Class 3A No. 7 Plainview (3-0) at 4A No. 3 Tuttle (2-0)

Defensively, these two teams have allowed 47 combined points through five games with some solid opponents mixed in.

7. Class A No. 1 Cashion (3-0) at 3A No. 10 Prague (3-0)

Prague picked up where it left off after last season's strong playoff run. Cashion is missing its quarterback, Matt Harman, but rolled over Mooreland last week.

8. Class 6A-I No. 5 Norman North (2-0) at 6A-I No. 8 Edmond Santa Fe (3-0)

Norman North hasn't been tested yet, while Santa Fe has had to pull out a couple close wins.

9. Class B No. 7 Alex (2-0) at B No. 1 Davenport (2-0)

Is defending champion Davenport going to roll through this season like it did last year? This will be the Bulldogs' second big test so far.

10. Class 6A-II No. 10 Midwest City (0-2) at 5A No. 6 Del City (2-0)

With a tough opening schedule, Midwest City needs some positive momentum heading into district play. Del City just wants to keep its good vibes going in a tough rivalry matchup.
