In a battle for top position in the county the Gladiators got the best of the hosting Lions Tuesday and came away with the, 4-1, win.

Howard captured the 1-0 lead in the first inning after a solo home run by Shanya Gordon, but Glenelg took the lead for good with two runs in fourth inning. Molly Dustin had a productive out scoring one run, with the second run scoring on an error.

Amy Stetser earned the win for the Gladiators. She tossed seven innings, allowing one run, three hits and struck out two.

Molly Dustin, Emily Michalski and Julia Chamberlain each drove in one run to lead Glenelg. Katie McIntyre had the only extra base hit, and also led Glenelg with three hits in the game.

The Lions totaled four hits on the day as a team, with Sophia Morton recording a double and Ally Wieman and Paige Eakes each recording one single.

Becky Merson took the loss for Howard. She pitched five innings, allowing four runs and striking out three.

Katie Dustin and Eakes each caught seven innings for the Gladiators and Lions, respectively, and allowed no passed balls or steal attempts.
