Senior night was sweet for the Tahlequah volleyball team.

The Lady Tigers dominated Tulsa Nathan Hale in their regular season finale on Tuesday, winning 3-0 (25-10, 25-10, 25-5). The Lady Tigers finish the regular season with a 11-15 record and the No. 17 ranking in Class 5A.

Tahlequah head coach Don Ogden was proud of his team for winning their senior night.

"You're always happy to play your final game and your seniors (get to go out) with a win," Ogden said. "I'm just happy they were happy. They enjoy being out there. Sometimes you worry about senior nights because (it can be emotional), but they did a good job of keeping (their) cool and executing. I was very happy they were able to get a win in their final time on their court."

The Lady Tigers controlled every set on Tuesday night, as their only deficit was at 5-4 in the second set. The first set went back and forth until the THS jumped out to a 12-6 lead. The Lady Tigers finished the game on a 12-4 run, including a brief 6-0 run.

The second set was the only brief moment that the Lady Tigers trailed. After falling behind, 5-4, they went on a 6-0 run to take the momentum away from Hale. They ended the game on a 7-2 run to take the second set by the same score as the first.

The third set was all Tahlequah, as it jumped out to a 7-1 lead. The Lady Tigers went on another 12-1 run to create separation, as they put the final touches on their senior night.

Tahlequah had 30 kills as a team over the three sets, led by Brooke Thomas' 11. Ivee Baker followed with eight kills and Allyson Hart ended with six.

Thomas also led the way with 11 digs. Hart added nine digs, and Baker finished with six. The Lady Tigers had 11 service aces, led by Stevie Scott's three.

With the Lady Tigers beginning regional play on Monday, Ogden noted the importance of playing well in their final regular season game.

"This was a game we needed to play," he said. "We needed to go out and do the best we could, not worrying about the opponent and just focusing on executing."

Tahlequah has won six of its last eight matches. The Lady Tigers went 2-2 at the Metro Lakes Conference Tournament last weekend. They posted wins over No. 17 Collinsville (25-13, 25-17) and Glenpool (25-20, 25-9). Their two setbacks were to ninth-ranked Skiatook (25-9, 25-19) and No. 8 Coweta (25-8, 25-17). Tahlequah also defeated Sapulpa at home last week in four sets (25-22, 22-25, 25-14, 25-23).

The Lady Tigers will travel to Tulsa Metro Christian on Monday, Oct.9, for their regional tournament. Their matchup will be announced later this week.

The THS graduating seniors are Brooke Thomas, Ivee Baker, Katie Eagle, Allyson Hart, Preslee Keemer, and Stevie Scott.
