Marlboro 20, Colts Neck 14 (OT)

Senior RB Jonny Helff backed a 16-yard burst to the Colts Neck 2-yard line in overtime by plowing into on the end zone on next play, capping Marlboro's rally from a 14-0 first-half deficit. The Marlboro defense stopped Colts Neck on the initial possession of the extra session, getting a lift from senior defensive end R.J. Boyce, who made a third-down tackle off the edge for a one-yard loss. The Cougars went for it on fourth-and six from the 11 but suffered an incompletion.

Colts Neck (0-4, 0-3) marched 73 yards in 13 plays on the game's opening drive, punctuated by senior QB Joey Lombardo's one-yard keeper. The Cougars extended their advantage to 14-0 following a defensive stand that halted Marlboro on a fourth-and-one at the Mustangs 38. Three plays later, senior RB Sabur Quddus took a toss and raced 37 yards to widen the gap with 1:05 left in the half.

However, that was just enough time for Marlboro (1-3, 1-2) to formulate a response. Senior QB Kyle Moore completed a 13-yard pass to sophomore TE Dominick Palumbo and the Stangs got an additional 15 yards on the play courtesy of a Colts Neck penalty to advance to the Cougars' 21. An 18-yard reverse by junior RB Dontrell Alston moved the ball to 3-yard line and Moore took a bootleg, cut inside and scored from there with 6.8 seconds to spare to cut the deficit in half.

Marlboro tied the game with 3:29 showing in the third, going for it on fourth-and10 from the Colts Neck 15. Moore delivered a corner fade to junior WR Alex Schutzer and Vincent Spitalieri tacked on the extra point to even matters at 14-14.
