Fountain Lake's volleyball team remains undefeated, its 17th victory coming Tuesday at Bass Gymnasium against another top Garland County squad.

Elizabeth Bairett had 32 assists and 11 service points in the Lady Cobras' 25-20, 25-16, 25-23 triumph over Lakeside. The visiting Lady Rams pulled within 24-22 in Game 3 before allowing Fountain Lake (17-0) to break serve.

"The first two games, I thought that was probably the most error-free game that we've played," said Fountain Lake head coach Tina Moore. "We played pretty clean and solid. Our block kept us in this game the whole time. We were just blocking like crazy. That was really the difference-maker because that shut their hitters down. The last game, the last five points, I think we got a little timid and scared and didn't finish. Up until then, I thought we played solid all night, great defense."

Lakeside, meanwhbile, struggled to score until the final set.

"I thought overall we finally showed up in the third set, towards the end," said head coach Allison Frizzell-Kizer. "We definitely didn't play as well as we know how to play, but, on the other hand, Fountain Lake did touch a lot of our swings. Props them on their defense."

Olivia Cox led the Lady Cobras with 14 kills, Erin Graves had 12 service points and Lyndsey Blees added eight kills. Fountain Lake also totaled 12 blocks.

"We tried hard tonight to mix it up a little bit and not go to her (Cox) quite as much, so they couldn't camp out on her," Moore said. "We used our middles a little bit more and our right sides a little bit more, so they got quality swings so that we could open 11 up to hit."

Senior libero Kailey Bausch dominated the back line for the Lady Rams, picking up 23 digs and finishing with a 2.8 out of 3 service-receive percentage.

"She adjusted every time I asked her to, and she did it well," Frizzell-Kizer said. "She proved why she wears that libero jersey today."

Olivia Lawrence earned a double-double with 11 assists and 10 digs while Gaylynn Green and Lyca Steelman each had 13 digs with Steelman also tallying seven kills for the Lady Rams.

"Ultimately, we try to play consistently," Frizzell-Kizer said. "Defensively, we did have a couple of holes tonight that, unfortunately, we did not fix in time. It was too late, but we do have a strong back line. I trust every one I put in the back row."

Lakeside's Hannah Whorton had 15 assists and Abby Mahoney had eight kills.

Contiuning an unbeaten season becomes more difficult with each game, Moore knows.

"Every game, we have a target on our backs, so everybody is bringing their best game to us," she said. "That's kind of hard, so we have to get up mentally for that. We're just going to take it one game at a time and see where it goes. We've got some good competition coming up. We've got a couple of tournaments coming up, so we'll be challenged there."

Lakeside (22-3, 5-0) returns home to face Camden Fairview tonight; Fountain Lake hosts Ashdown.
