The Longhorns had to feel pretty good midway through Monday’s game at Sperry. Faith Bible laid down a sacrifice bunt that scored teammate Julian Danker, who led off the inning with a double.

But in the bottom of the fourth, the nightmare began.

The Pirates loaded the bases with three consecutive singles, followed by a bases-emptying triple for a 3-1 lead.

After an error and a few more base hits and fielder’s choices, Sperry had scored eight runs, and the game was basically over.

Inola was game in the fifth, adding a couple of runs on a Lacey Stamper double, singles by Bible and Kaitlin Hinds and a Lillie Walker fielder’s choice. Sperry led 8-3.

But the Pirates scored four more in the fifth.

Stamper was 2-for-3 with two doubles. Bible and Danker were each 2-for-2.

Walker took the loss. allowing 13 hits in five innings.
