Panthers bounce back with win over Shelby
‘We didn’t have time to dwell on any shortcomings’
Frankfort’s boys soccer team suffered its first loss of the season Wednesday, but the Panthers didn’t dwell on that disappointment.

Instead they came out Thursday and defeated Shelby County 6-0 at Sower Soccer Complex.

“The short turnaround got us right back out there playing soccer,” FHS coach Brad Kennedy said. “We didn’t have time to dwell on any shortcomings. We got to do what we love to do, and that’s play together.”

Frankfort scored three goals in the first 20 minutes of the match, with Tomaz Donaldson scoring the first one and Devin Craig picking up the next two.

Aaron Bradley had the assist on Donaldson’s goal, and Ethan Fields assisted on Craig’s second score.

The score remained 3-0 at halftime.

“We came out and got an early goal, and that sort of set the tone for the night,” Kennedy said. “We tried to do some different things and get different guys involved.

“The big thing tonight is we wanted to come in and work at getting better.”

Craig recorded a hat trick with his third goal early in the second half. Fields scored with about 27 minutes left, putting the ball in the net after a deflected save by Shelby’s keeper, and Donaldson closed out the scoring with his second goal coming with about 10 minutes remaining in the match.

Thursday’s match came a day after Frankfort lost to Somerset 1-0 in an All “A” sectional game.

“I was really glad we bounced back,” Kennedy said, “and I was very glad we were able to get more people involved. One thing we’re trying to do is improve our depth so we’re ready for whatever circumstance we may see going forward.”

FHS (14-1) plays its next match Tuesday at Bourbon County.
