Matanzas High School rallied in the second half Friday night to defeat visiting Treasure Coast 20-13 in Palm Coast.

Battling back from a 13-6 halftime deficit, Matanzas scored the game-winning touchdown on Ryan Thomas' 2-yard run with 1:11 to play in the game.

Treasure Coast, playing without one of its top offensive threats in Cedrick Wilcox, lost two fumbles, had an interception and were penalized 11 times in the game.

Treasure Coast took a 7-0 lead on a busted punt play in the first quarter. After a bad snap, the Titans' Tyrec Thompson picked the ball up and scrambled away from Matanzas defenders, hitting Rashawn Yates with short pass. Yates then rambled 71 yards for the score.

After Matanzas cut the lead to 7-6 on a 34-yard pass from Thomas to Devin Mathews, Treasure Coast struck again. This time, Thompson scored on a 28-yard pass from Titans quarterback Ashton Houser, giving Treasure Coast a 13-6 lead at the break.

Treasure Coast was headed for another score midway through the third quarter when Titans running back Nate Ingraham fumbled at the 3-yard line. Matanzas' Brandon Gilyard scooped the loose ball up and went 97 yards for the tying score with 7:05 to play in the quarter.

Treasure Coast running back Shamar Minnis rushed for 91 yards on 16 carries, while Ingraham had 56 yards rushing on 13 carries. Houser completed 2 of 9 passes for 25 yards with one interception. 

Defensively for Treasure Coast, Joel Rose had two sacks, Josh Fleurjuste a sack and interception, with Branden Masse also credited with a sack.
