Jaycee Hampton blasted a two-run double Saturday that brought an end to the longest losing streak of the year for the Bartlesville High School varsity softball team.

With two outs in the top of the second, Hampton — a sophomore shortstop — launched the ball to centerfield to drive home Rhiannon Silva and Kimalee Lawrence and extend Bartlesville’s lead to 6-0 against Sperry, at Skiatook High School.

Even though Sperry later would rally, Bartlesville held on to the 7-4 triumph and snapped a four-game string of defeats for the Lady Bruins.

But, in Bartlesville’s second game Saturday, Skiatook whittled out a 4-2 victory, in Bartlesville’s 30th game of the campaign.

Next up, the Lady Bruins (16-13-1) are slated to play host Monday to Tulsa Union. Starting time is 5:30 p.m.
