BULLDOGS WIN SEASON OPENER 30-7

Behind a huge game from senior TK Wilkerson and a Jayden Garner touchdown, the Skiatook Bulldogs dominated Glenpool 30-7 to open up the regular season. The story of the game was Wilkerson, with 173 yards and 2 touchdown’s at halftime on thirteen carries. The Bulldogs defense, anchored by Chandler Perigo, was tremendous as well. At the half, Glenpool had ran 28 plays for only 85 yards. Skiatook had 262 yards on 24 plays. For weeks, Coach Miller has been emphasizing the importance of the opening game, and the team came in fired-up and ready to go to battle against the Warriors. Wilkerson put his two touchdowns on the board in no time. The 6’3 senior barreled through the Warriors defense on five straight carries, going 80 total and ending with at 13 yard score. Every time he got his legs churning there was no stopping him—Glenpool defenders bounced off. His second score was 80 yards, right down the middle. With 11:30 left in the second half, Skiatook went up 14-0. Cody Evans, the junior quarterback and two-year starter, hooked up with Jayden Garner on a beautiful touchdown pass with 4:44 left in the second quarter. The PAT was no good, and Skiatook carried a 20-0 lead into halftime. Glenpool started the second half by moving the ball and made it inside Skiatook territory to start the second half, but Skiatook held strong and prevented a score. Skiatook, on the other hand, stretched the lead out 27-0 with a touchdown run from Jaxson Dohn coming with 4:30 left in the third half. This ended the night for most of the starters. Evans had an almost 30 yard quarterback keeper run up the home sideline to put the drive in scoring position. The fourth quarter was all about experience, with most of the starters getting to rest while the younger plays gained some valuable on-field time. Glenpool did manage to score on a 29 yard run in the closing quarter, and Skiatook answered with a field goal in the final minute to end the game 30-7. Skiatook, now 1-0, hosts a 1-0 Oologah Mustang team next week coming fresh off a victory over Collinsville.
