It took awhile for the Frankfort-North College Hill football game to begin, but it didn’t take the Panthers long to get started.

FHS dominated the Trojans Saturday, winning 47-0 at Sower Football Field. The game went to a running clock midway through the third quarter.

“This has been a crazy day, especially with the start time being pushed back,” FHS coach Craig Foley said. “I’m proud of the way the kids kept their heads in the game. There were a couple times they got a little distracted, but I’m proud of how they did their jobs.”

Frankfort’s game with North College Hill (Ohio) was originally scheduled for Friday but moved to Saturday because of Friday’s heavy rain.

Kickoff was originally set for noon but pushed back to 1 p.m

Once the game started, the Panthers wasted little time scoring.

Jonathan Tillman completed a 68-yard halfback pass to DaJuan Davis for a touchdown less than a minute into the game, and Reed Miklavcic kicked the extra point for a 7-0 lead with 11:17 left in the first quarter.

“We saw some film on them,” Foley said. “We saw in their last game they got mad, a little frustrated, and we wanted to do the same thing today.”

When Frankfort got the ball back, Davis tried a halfback pass that was picked off by the Trojans’ Lorenzo Sparks.

“We got a little greedy,” Foley said, “coming back with the same play, but I thought the kids bounced back really well.”

FHS went ahead 13-0 on a 17-yard pass from Holt Hammons to Tillman with 1:21 left in the first. The conversion run failed.

Tillman intercepted a pass a minute into the second quarter, and with 9:29 left in the second Hammons hit Davis with a 25-yard touchdown pass. A fumble on the conversion attempt left the score at 19-0.

The Panthers scored two more times before halftime, on a 32-yard run by Davis and a 15-yard pass from Hammons to Davis. Hammons ran for the conversion on the second touchdown for a 33-0 halftime lead.

With 7:27 left in the third quarter, Hammons threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Tillman for a 39-0 lead that sent the game to a running clock. Miklavcic kicked the PAT to make the score 40-0.

The game’s last touchdown came on a 9-yard pass from Hammons to Jevon Bush. Miklavcic’s point-after kick made the final score 47-0.

The Trojans’ best chance to score came early in the third quarter when they had first down at the FHS 3-yard line.

Two North College Hill penalties, an incomplete pass and sack on fourth down turned the ball over to Frankfort at its own 46-yard line.

“I thought we settled down (on defense),” Foley said. “One of their best players didn’t play for some reason, their running back. We settled down and got to the attack points a little better, and our secondary played really well.”

Frankfort intercepted the Trojans’ Javontay Barr five times. Davis had two picks, and Tillman, Bush and Jyden Graham each had one.

The Panthers (3-0) play their next game Friday at Williamsburg.
