The Roosevelt Boys Cross Country team traveled to Iowa State University and competed in the Ames Invitational. The Riders competed against a quality field and finished 9th out of the 10 teams in attendance. Ben Russell finished 26th and Harry Prentice was close behind in 31st on a beautiful evening in Ames.

Coach Zane Butler said "It was great to see Ben Russell back to his former self. Brian Goode ran one heck of a meet and earned his PR. Brian's hard work in practice is beginning to pay off. Rowen Abbas ran a very good race and showed extreme toughness. At the one mile mark Rowen was in 25th place, he then continued to stay strong and pick guys off on-by-one. As far as the varsity race is concerned, we had a race plan going into the meet and just did not execute it well. We learned from this meet and we are confident moving forward".

In the 11/12 (JV1) portion of the meet the Riders finsihed 7th of 11 teams and Brian Goode finished 15th overall. In the 9/10 (JV2) race Rowen Abbas finished 6th and the Roosevelt contingent finished 5th out of 9 teams.

The Roosevelt boys are back on the course on Thursday, Sept. 7 when they travel to Marshalltown to compete.
