Memorial’s Lady Bulldogs went undefeated Friday at the Stillwater Festival with two, big-scoring wins when they defeated Perry and Elk City by a combined score of 21-5.

Memorial dropped the Perry Maroons 8-0 in the first contest of the single-day softball festival. Memorial would drop the Maroons in 5 innings after they scored 5 runs in the third and 3 in the fourth.

The Lady Bulldogs were firing on all cylinders, especially in the batter’s box, where Memorial’s Beth McAninly went 3-for-3 with a triple. Crislyn Cole also etched a triple, as she reached base safely in every plate appearance while recording 3 RBIs. Karsen Heron and Mary McKey also recorded two hits each, and the Lady Bulldogs registered a combined 11 hits in the 5-inning run-rule win.

Memorial gave Elk City a dose of the same medicine when the Lady Bulldogs won their second game of the day while using the same dominating offense. Memorial scored 13 runs in the first four innings before ending the game early with a run-rule in the fifth.

Kendall Murphy and Crimson Davis both reached three times for a combined 4 RBIs in the win. Mary McKey, who got the win on the mound in the game against Perry, reached twice.

Janet Chartney, head coach of the Lady Bulldogs, was excited about her team’s performance during the festival.

“The girls played great both games,” Chartney said. “They scored 21 runs with 23 hits from up and down the lineup. We had good pitching on the mound and our outfield played awesome.”

That outfield, composed of Holley Heiner, Murphy, McKey and McAninly, recorded 11 outs from fly balls in the 10-innings played.

The Lady Bulldogs’ Friday performance had Chartney impressed considering they suffered an extra-inning loss against cross-town rivals Edmond North the day before the festival.

“I’m very proud of how we bounced back after the Edmond North contest,” Chartney said. “It shows a lot of character and confidence.”
