Oklahoma Bible Academy's scrimmage at Okeene Thursday went "about I expected,'' Trojans coach Jay Mendenhall said.

"We pretty much got to see what we wanted to see,'' Mendenhall said. "Okeene gave us some great looks. We found some areas that we need to shore up. We have a better idea of where we are. Nothing surprised us in a bad way and it was good to go at game speed.''

Mendenhall was especially pleased with senior Montell Meyer, who played both tackle and center.

"I think our offensive line has made a lot of strides since summer camp,'' Mendenhall said. "I saw a lot of progress. They have been working hard and it showed in the scrimmage.''

Meyer stood out with his blocking over the others

"Everyone else had some busts, but it's nothing that's not fixable,'' Mendenhall said.

The Trojans scored twice on touchdown passes from Jud Minx to Luke Potter and Seth Cummings.

"Jud is developing a good feel with his receivers,'' Mendenhall said. "We went to some seven-on-seven camps to try to get better in the passing game and you can tell he's gotten better. Okeene doesn't have many busts, so to get a couple of touchdowns was good.''

Mendenhall said he was not concerned about the score (which was not kept). He said any attempts to do that would be misleading since teams were limited to 10 plays per possession.

"It was hard to say what might have been a touchdown,'' he said.

Mendenhall hopes to have lineman Morgan Meyer and running back Connor Choate, who didn't play Thursday, back for the season-opener against SeeWorth Academy next Friday.

Choate, a returning starter, has been out with a compression fracture in his foot.

"He's itching to get out there,'' Mendenhall said.
