Franklin County’s and Frankfort High’s volleyball teams both lost in straight sets at home Thursday night.

Madison Central defeated FCHS 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-15) and Woodford County beat FHS 3-0 (25-9, 25-5, 25-3).

FCHS

Franklin County stayed right with Madison Central through the first part of each set, but the Lady Indians pulled away in all three sets for the win.

“We were there the first part of every set,” FCHS coach Wesley Vance said. “We go so far along, and that goes away. I talked to them before the second set and asked why it’s 12-12 and the next thing you know it’s 22-12.

“They’re a good team, but in the second set 25 of the 17 points they scored were on unforced errors. That means Madison Central scored eight points.

“I know there are going to be some little ups and downs, but you don’t want peaks and valleys where you struggle to get back.”

FCHS (2-5) plays its next match at home Tuesday against Western Hills.

FHS

Frankfort played all three district opponents in its first four matches of the season.

“We continue to improve and we continue to play through any adversities or troubles that come our way,” FHS head coach Eileen Butts said. “And that’s a true testament to a team that wants to be better and I can’t be more proud of them.”

The first set was close early until the Lady Yellow Jackets pulled away with the victory. WCHS jumped out to a 18-2 lead in the second set and finished the match with 16 straight points.

FHS (0-4) will next play host to East Jessamine Tuesday.
