Stoughton High School graduate and University of Wisconsin senior Becky Klongland made history last week.

Klongland, who was the 2016 Women’s State Golf Association Player of the Year, became the first golfer to win four straight Women’s State Amateur Championships in a row July 11-12 at Westmoor Country Club in Brookfield.

Klongland finished with a 145 (70-75) to beat Pewaukee’s Maggie Leef – the 2016 Senior Player of the Year – by two strokes. The third round was canceled due to heavy rain.

Klongland will be a senior at UW this fall. She is a member of the Badgers womens golf team.
