The past three seasons for the Gravette Lions have been very solid with seven wins two out of the past three seasons. Gravette picked up seven wins last season and advanced in the playoffs last season. The Lions are looking to play even longer in November going into the 2017 season.
Gravette will have five starters returning on the offensive side of the ball this season. The player to watch for the Lions’ offense this season will be wide receiver Brady Moorman. Moorman racked up almost 400 yards receiving and caught five touchdown passes in 2016. Gravette has the potential to be a very consistent offense, if they can mix the run and the pass effectively. The Lions’ offense has the potential to be a dangerous unit if everything will gel and they can get off to a quick start, during the early portion of the season.
The Lions’ defense will be an experience, talented group. Gravette has eight starters returning on the defensive side of the ball. Gravette fans should keep an eye on defensive tackle Bailey Soule. Soule had an impressive 2016 season, racking up over 80 tackles, with eleven of those being for loss. Soule is very quick and that causes the offensive line problems in attempting to block him. The defense will give the Lions a chance to win every game, if they can force turnovers and cause plenty of three and outs.
Gravette should once again challenge for a playoff spot this season. The Lions have the potential to increase the win total from last season and possibly make a playoff run if the matchups will be favorable. I look for the Gravette Lions to have a solid season and play into November this season, if they can avoid injury and the offense gels quickly.
