VARSITY GIRLS TRACK-MEET CHAMPIONS!

Varsity Girls Track-Meet Champions!

The Mayde Creek Girls Varsity Track Team competed at the Archie Seals Relays at Bellville High School on Thursday, March 30. We brought up 14 girls from the JV team to compete at this meet and they did exceptionally well, contributing to our team total. The entire team competed extremely hard and were crowned meet champions with 167 points, 47 points ahead of runner-up Bellville. Numerous girls achieved personal records and received hardware.  Mayde Creek also received the Outstanding Girls Coach Award.



Syntyche Laguerre had an outstanding meet performance. She competed and placed in 5 events, the maximum number allowed. Laguerre earned 38 points total and was awarded the Girls High Point plaque for her strong efforts.  Laguerre won the Triple Jump with a distance 37-7. She also brought home gold in the 100 meter dash, running a personal record time of 12.87. In Long Jump, she had a leap of 17-1, placing her 2nd. Laguerre earned the bronze medal in the 200 meter dash with a season best time of 26.96. Finally, she was part of the 4X200 meter relayteam that placed 2nd.  Laguerre’s hard work and dedication is evident in these wonderful track accomplishments. 



Alessa King had her fair share of accolades, as well. King took gold in the Long Jump with a magnificent personal record jump of 17-8. King also ran a personal best in the 400 meter dash, winning the event with a blazing fast time of 58.74. King was part of the 4X200 meter relayteam that placed 2nd and the 4X400 meter relay team that also earned silver. King’s commitment in the track program, work ethic and passion for the sport helped her earn a total of 28 points for the team.



In field events, Mayde Creek had several other standouts in addition to Laguerre and King.



Saige Alvarado won the Discus with a nice throw of 103-8. Ashley Lee placed 5th in the event with a distance of 84-7 ½.



In the Shot Put, Tolu Osunsade took gold with a throw of 33-5. Ashley Lee finished in 4th with a distance of 30-10.



Uchechi Orduji finished in 4th place in the Long Jump, with a personal record jump of 16-2.



Shania Steptoe earned a silver medal in the High Jump, jumping a height of 5-0.



In Pole Vault, Amy Mikahiel placed 5th with a vault of 7-0.



In the running events, the Lady Rams earned points in every event.



Jenny Ervine placed 2nd in the 800 meter run with a personal best time of 2:31.34. Hiede Tiliakos placed 4th in the race and ran a personal record time of 2:33.99.



In the 100 meter hurdles, Katie Griese earned the bronze medal with a time of 17.24. Leslie Yanez placed 6th, recording a time of 18.12.Griese finished 5th place in the 300 meter hurdles, running a time of 52.97.



Emely Aleman placed 3rd in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:49. Aleman also secured a 3rd place finish in the 1600 meter run, recording a time of 5:54. Also in the 1600 meter run, Melanie Dominguez and Jenny Ervine both ran personal best times of 5:56 and 5:58 placing them 5th and 6th, respectively. 



Danaysia Wilson placed 6th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.38.



In the 4X100 meter relay, Devin Alcoser, Uchechi Orduji, Danaysia Wilson and Kaila Davis, placed 5th with a season best time of 52.47.



The 4X200 meter relay team, consisting of Uchechi Orduji, Danaysia Wilson, Syntyche Laguerre & Alessa King, placed 2nd with a season best time of 1:48.46.



In the final race of the night, the 4X400 meter relay, team members Hiede Tiliakos, Dru Tiliakos, Jada Duffey, and Alessa King earned the silver medal with a season best time of 4:17.38. King closed the 10 meter gap to first place, just barely running out of real estate to take the gold!



We are very proud of the way the girls competed and how the younger JV girls really stepped up when it counted. The girls will be back in action at the District 19-6A Championships on April 10, 11 & 13 at Tompkins High School.
