The Mayde Creek Girls Varsity Track Team had some wonderful performances at the 19/20-6A Area Track Meet on Friday, April 22, at Seven Lakes High School. The girls placed 4th with 68 points. Houston Lamar won the meet with 137.50 points followed by Seven Lakes (122) and Katy (108).
There will be 8 Lady Rams representing Mayde Creek in the Regional Meet on April 29th and 30th at Clear Creek ISD Challenger Columbia Stadium in Webster. They will be competing in 7 different events. To qualify for the Regional Meet, athletes must place in the top 4 at the Area Meet.
Qualifying athletes include: Javlyn Cameron (100H, 300H, 4X100), Hailey Williams (4X100, 300H), Samara Hodges (4X100, High Jump), Syntyche Laguerre (Triple Jump), Danielle Ingram (4X100), Sandra Cortez (Discus) and Tolu Osunsade (Shot Put), Shania Steptoe (High Jump).
In the field events, Samara Hodges won the Area Championship in High Jump with a jump of 5-4. Shania Steptoe placed 3rd with a personal record jump of 5-1.
In Triple Jump, Syntyche Laguerre had a personal record jump of 38-06.50, placing 2nd in the event.
In Discus, Sandra Cortez had a great performance and placed 4th with a throw of 104-05.
Tolu Osunsade placed 4th in Shot Put with a throw of 32-06.50
In the running events, Javlyn Cameron had another spectacular state ranked performance in the 100m hurdles, running a personal record time of 13.62, bringing home the Area Championship medal in the event.
In the 300m hurdles, Hailey Williams and Javlyn Cameron had nice races finishing in 3rd and 4th place with times of 44.48 and 44.56, respectively.
The girl’s 4X100 meter relay, consisting of Danielle Ingram, Samara Hodges, Cameron & Williams, had a stellar race and placed 2nd with a time of 48.35.
The Varsity Girl Regional qualifiers will be back in action at the Regional Meet on Friday and Saturday, April 29 & 30th, at Challenger Columbia Stadium in Webster.
