VARSITY GIRLS TRACK UPDATE!

Varsity Girls Track Update!

The Mayde Creek Girls Varsity Track Team competed at the John Morris Pearland Invitational at Pearland High School on Friday, February 19. The girls had a nice showing with 54.75 points. They came away with 8th place out of 17 teams.

The meet kicked off to a great start with the field events. Junior Syntyche Laguerre had an awesome gold medaling performance in the Triple Jump. She recorded a distance of 37-11 ½, setting a new personal record for herself.

Senior Samara Hodges easily won the High Jump competition with a jump of 5’4”.

The girls’ 4X100 meter relay team, consisting of Senior Danielle Ingram, Junior Javlyn Cameron and Senior Hailey Williams, had a strong performance against some fast competition. They bettered their time from last week, running 48.43 and placing 3rd.

In the 300 meter hurdles, the hurdling duo had nice performances and brought home the silver and bronze medals. Hailey Williams had a time of 44.48, placing her 2nd. Javlyn Cameron was right behind with a time of 45.88, good for 3rd place.

It was nice bringing back some hardware and personal records this week. There were multiple girls barely missing the top 6 in their perspective events, so overall it was a fairly good day. The Varsity Girls will be back in action on Friday, February 26, at the Bulldog Relays at Waller High School.

Please congratulate the girls when you see them. Thank you for all your support and what you do for our athletes.
