Varsity Girls Track Update - Lamar Consolidated ISD Relays in Rosenburg on Friday, March 4

The Mayde Creek Girls Varsity Track Team competed at the Lamar Consolidated ISD Relays in Rosenburg on Friday, March 4. The girls had a great showing and placed 4th out of 13 teams, even without running two relays at the meet!



The meet kicked off to a great start with the field events. Senior Samara Hodges won the High Jump competition with a state ranked jump of 5’8”. Sophomore Shania Steptoe placed 6th in the competition out of 22 girls with a jump of 5’0”.



In Shot Put, Freshman Tolu Osunsade had a wonderful performance and placed 2nd with a personal best throw of 34-2.



Junior Syntyche Laguerre placed 4th with a distance of 36-8 ½ in Triple Jump.



In the hurdling events, Junior Javlyn Cameron & Senior Hailey Williams had outstanding performances in both the 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles contributing 28 points to the team. Cameron won the 100 meter hurdles and Williams came in 4th with times of 14.25 and 15.22, respectively. Later on in the night, the duo raced hard in the 300 meter hurdles. Cameron took home the silver medal with a time of 44.16, while Williams earned the bronze medal with a finishing time of 44.72.



In the 4X100 meter relay, Senior Danielle Ingram, Samara Hodges, Javlyn Cameron and Hailey Williams had a fantastic race coming in 2nd place. The team had a season best time of 47.98.



The girls competed hard in all of their events.  More personal records and season bests were earned!  The Varsity Girls will be back in action on Friday, March 11 at the El Campo Ricebird Relays.
