GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY UPDATE

Girls Cross Country Update

The Cross Country teams competed at the very competitive Strake Jesuit Crusader Cross Country Invitational on October 8 at Bear Creek Park. The Varsity girls placed 7th out of 14 teams amongst many state ranked runners and JV placed 10th out of 16 in the competition.



The Varsity squad was led by Emely Aleman, who had an outstanding run, placing 29th out of a field of 122 runners. She recorded a personal record time of 20:04 over the 5K course. Alessa King had a strong run and placed 39th with a time of 20:29. Hiede Tiliakos placed 46th with a nice personal record time of 20:41. Lexi Torbit finished the race strong and placed 50th, recording a season best time of 20:52. Melanie Dominguez and Shelby Sears finished in 59th and 62nd place, respectively. Dominguez had a time of 21:12 and Sears ran a personal best time of 21:18. Rounding out the Varsity squad was Andrea Vo who ran a time of 23:23. 



The JV team was once again led by Jennifer Ervine, who had a strong performance over the 2 mile course. She ran a personal best time of 14:22 and placed 34th out of 122 runners.  Close behind was Paulette Low, who placed 14th with a time of 14:10. Noor Naghi placed 58th, running a 14:47. Jackie Gonzalez had a 74th place finish with a time of 15:14. Iliana Velez ran a time of 15:49 and placed 87th. Shannon Dixon and Azlynn Zuniga placed 88th and 91st, respectively. They had personal best times of 16:04 and 16:07. The final Rams to finish for the JV squad was Nadia Makhloufi and Liliana Garcia. They recorded personal record times of 16:35 and 16:38.



The Mayde Creek Cross Country girls competed strong and many personal records were run. The girls will be back in action on Friday, October 21, when they compete at the District 19-6A Championship Meet held at Bear Creek Park.
