FTMS FOOTBALL ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear FTMS East and West Parents,



The FTMS Athletic Department, Principals, and FTCSC school district have made the decision to combine the FTMS East and FTMS West Football Teams for the 2015 season.  Football needs sustainable numbers to be able to conduct a program in a safe environment and also puts players in situations for growth and success.



Numbers and Structure

# of players for FTMS East 7th grade:  43      # of players for FTMS East 8th grade:  15

# of players for FTMS West 7th grade:  17    # of players for FTMS West 8th grade:  45



Combining of our East and West teams will put us at roughly 60 players for 7th grade and 60 players for 8th grade.  The “A” and “B” game offerings will ensure all participating will have opportunities for substantial playing time.



The current FTMS East schedule will be in effect due to the structure of it containing a full “A” schedule and “B” games.  There will also be a few additions to the “B” schedule in the coming weeks.  The coaching staff will remain committed to providing equal playing time for all during the season with our “A” and “B” games.  The staffs will work together and place teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development as the priority.  Please stay tuned to www.ftmseastathletics.com for details on newly added games. 



Timeline

The merge will begin on Monday, August 3rd, 2015.  Shuttle service for West students will take them to East on this day going forward. 



Location

All football activity will occur at the FTMS East campus, including all practices and home games.  This location will allow for no scheduling conflicts with the high school football program as West shares those facilities.  Player pickup will be at East at 5pm daily, just outside of the exterior locker room doors & Door 25 at FTMS East.

 

Shuttle

FTMS West football players will still attend study tables at West.  They will be shuttled over to FTMS East at 3:15pm on Mondays and 2:50pm Tuesday – Friday.  West players will be issued a locker at East.  On home and away game days shuttle service will still be in effect.  Typical bus transportation to away games will be a 4:30pm departure.



Pay to Participate

Pay to Participate fees will still be collected at the student athlete’s respective school.  East payments will be collected by East and West payments will be collected by West.



Schedule changes as of today

The 8/17/15 “Scrimmage” has been canceled.  First game will be August, 20th, 2015 vs. FCV.  The 8th grade will host FCV and the 7th grade will travel there.  Also, the 10/6/15 East vs. West game has been canceled.  Game added, 10/1/15 vs. Lutheran at home.



This decision is a “temporary” decision.  The program will be evaluated continually at its conclusion and during the winter and spring months.  The ultimate goal will be to once again create separate East and West programs with sustainable numbers.
