ALL COUNTY SOFTBALL TEAM

The Eagles had a very senior-heavy lineup this spring and that experience pushed Wilkes Central to a second-place finish in the MVAC. Wilkes Central also earned a berth into the 2A NCHSAA playoffs where the Eagles fell to eventual state champion Parkwood, the same team that eliminated West Wilkes, in the first round. Of the 116 innings the Eagles played this year, Allison Parker threw 107 of them. She finished with a 2.50 ERA and struck out 55 batters. She was also steady at the plate, hitting .309 and adding seven RBIs batting in the leadoff spot. The heart of the Eagles’ order brought some big bats into the box. Western Carolina signee Kailey McNeil, a senior shortstop, hit .453 this season and had 12 RBIs. She boasted a .703 slugging percentage and left the yard three times. She led the team in RBIs, home runs and slugging percentage. Also on the left side of the infield, third baseman Katelyn Wyatt had a strong year at the plate as well. She hit .438 with eight RBIs and was steady on the hot corner too. She produced a .975 fielding percentage in her final year in Moravian Falls. Honorable Mentions Wilkes Central’s freshman catcher Madison German had a fantastic debut season in Moravian Falls as she hit .424, pushed in 11 runs and blasted three round trippers. German was named to the All-MVAC team for her work this season.
