#12 RIDERS DEFEAT ANKENY ON SENIOR NIGHT

Roosevelt sent off their seniors in grand style last night as they dispatched the Hawks of Ankeny with relative ease. The injury-depleted visitors were no match for the irrepressible Riders as they relentlessly surged forward and created chance after chance in the opening half. If not for their profligacy in front of goal , the boys in navy blue might have sealed the result early in the match, but instead let their opponents hang around a little more than desired.Luke Whitman , the leading scorer on the season, but barren as of late tore holes in the Ankeny defence before being rewarded for his efforts in the 7th minute.

The Roughriders were then unable to secure a second goal despite dominating again in time of possession and territory, and most importantly chances created. The second half unfolded as the first did , Roosevelt in firm control all over the pitch. Man of the match was senior , Connor Gilbreath with a cool brace off back post rebounds. The remainder of the game evolved into a bit of a senior celebration as every departing grad was given an opportunity to significantly contribute to a streak that now extends to 11-1 and puts their total record to 11-4 on the year. Up next is a rainout make-up game Thursday, May 18 at Cownie stadium; kickoff at 4:45pm. A win on the night would make TRHS the unanimous champion of the Metro conference.

Saying goodbye on the night were ; manager , Alyssa Stephens, Matt Thompson , Evan Watkins , Connor Johnson , Matt Voss , Eddy Fernandes , Ronaldo Enamorado , Bei Tha , Ali Lula, Sami Abdulahi , Aidan Palmer , Connor Gilbreath , Abbott LaPrade , Jack Heston . All will be dearly missed , but their efforts over the last few years have left an indelible legacy for those who follow to emulate and hopefully surpass.
