Woodward's girls rolled to their 10th win of the season on Tuesday while the boys fell short after a determined comeback against the Elk City Elks.

In their first home game since early December, it took the Woodward girls, ranked eighth in Class 5A, about a half to shake off Elk City.

Ahead 25-19 at half-time, the Boomers opened the third period with a big run and ended up routing the Elks 61-36 to sweep the season series. Elk City fell to 7-9.

Addison Rowley scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures for Woodward. Brennley Cloyd added 14 points, Kaylee Hurst 11 and Maison Moseley 10. Caylee Kline had five points and Makale Floyd one to complete the scoring.

Elk City didn't have a player with more than five points.

The boys game was up for grabs until Elk City closed things out with a 10-2 run over the final 2:41 for a 51-43 victory.

Woodward spent most of the game battling out of a deficit then took the lead on three occasions in the the fourth period, the last on Trace Ham's three-pointer with 2:58 remaining.

But the Boomers didn't score again until 59 seconds remained in the game and by then Elk City had a solid lead again.

The Elks led by 11 in the first half before the Boomers closed to within four points, 25-21, at halftime.

In the third period, the Elks went up by 12, then the Boomers stormed back on three-pointers by Ham, Zach Taylor and Zach Kee (two). Kee's three at the buzzer tied it 35-35 going into the fourth quarter.

Kee, Taylor and Ham all scored 11 points to lead the Boomers. Logan Long had six points and Jackson Shirkey and Jorge Crespo two each.

Trent Lewallen had 17 points for Elk City.

The Boomers fell to 6-10. Elk City, ranked 19th in Class 4A, is 12-6.

Woodward hosts Clinton on Friday for homecoming. The Boomers swept Clinton earlier in the season.
