MOUNTAIN RIDGE RALLIES TO BEAT FRANKFORT

FROSTBURG — Garrett Whitaker went 3 for 3 and had an RBI double during a five-run fifth inning as fifth-ranked Mountain Ridge rallied for a 7-3 win over top-ranked Frankfort Friday evening at Mountain Ridge. Whitaker doubled and singled twice to lead Mountain Ridge’s eight-hit attack. Brant Hughes singled twice and knocked in two runs, Drew Shimko singled twice and scored two runs, and Devin Smith singled and scored twice for the Miners (6-6). Devin DiNicola tossed a four-hitter with three walks and nine strikeouts in a complete-game win. Blake Rhodes doubled, singled and drove in all three runs for Frankfort (11-6). The Falcons took a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning on a two-out, three-run double by Rhodes. Kody Wilt reached on an error and scored on a single by Drew Shimko to start the Miners’ five-run fifth. Devin Smith singled, DiNicola walked to load the bases, and Hughes singled to left to score two runs, with DiNicola scoring on an outfield error to put Mountain Ridge up 4-3. Whitaker doubled to center to score Hughes and complete the inning. Shimko, who walked, and Smith, who was hit by a pitch, scored when DiNicola reached on an outfield error for a pair of insurance runs in the sixth. Mountain Ridge visits Northern on Monday. Frankfort plays at Fairmont Senior today at noon, and plays Philip Barbour at Fairmont Senior at 2 p.m. No. 3 Fort Hill 7Keyser 5 KEYSER, W.Va. — Brayden Poling ripped a double and two singles and knocked in a pair of runs in Fort Hill’s win at Keyser. Winning pitcher Sebastian Stewart doubled and singled, Noah Weber had a single and two RBIs and Logan Johnson and J.T. Stevenson added a single and one RBI for Fort Hill (5-4). Andrew Liller doubled, singled and knocked in two runs for Keyser (4-8). Morgan Little had two singles and an RBI, Dalton Wilt a double and an RBI, Evan Moreland a single and an RBI, Jesse Smith two singles and Bradley Rotruck a double. Poling, Stewart and Ryan Muir combined for 11 strikeouts for the Sentinels. Stewart, who came on in relief in the third, had six and Poling, who started, had four. Muir pitched a scoreless seventh for a save. Fort Hill hosts Hampshire on Monday. Keyser plays again Monday at Southern. No. 4 Allegany 6So. Hagerstown 5 POTOMAC PARK — Jakson Bauer squeezed home Cameron Bratton in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift fourth-ranked Allegany past South Hagerstown at Memorial Field. Logan Milburn homered for the second game in a row for the Campers (7-6), who led 5-0 after five innings. He also singled and had two RBIs. Trenton Middleton tripled, singled twice and knocked in a run, and Jake Van Meter hit three singles. Dawson Hottinger had three singles and Jared Hardesty a double for the Rebels. Allegany grabbed a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning. Milburn hit a one-out, solo home run. With two outs, Ryan Miller drew a base on balls and scored on Middleton’s triple. Middleton came home on a wild pitch to make it 3-0. The Campers tacked on two runs in the fifth to make it 5-0 before South started its comeback with a four-run sixth, highlighted by an RBI double by Hardesty. Tyler Baker’s RBI single in the top of the seventh tied it 5-5. Bratton led off the Alco seventh with a single, Miller reached on an infield error and Middleton’s bunt attempt turned into a bunt single that loaded the bases and set the stage for Bauer’s squeeze bunt. Allegany plays at Hancock on Thursday. Hampshire 2Jordan Eldridge 1 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Parker Grace knocked in both runs, one the hard way, and Hampshire made the most of four hits in beating Jordan Eldridge, New York. Hampshire’s Matthew Kesner had the game’s only extra-base hit, and it led to a first-inning run. Kesner smashed a triple to left field and scored on a groundout by Grace to give the Trojans an early 1-0 lead. Hampshire’s only other run came in the fourth when Tristan Everett singled, and after back-to-back one-out walks loaded the bases, Grace was hit by a pitch to force home Everett. Eli Hott got the win, allowing five singles over seven innings and one unearned run. He walked three and struck out four. Jay Patrick had two singles for Jordan Eldridge, which had three pitchers team for a four-hitter. Hampshire (8-11) hosts Jefferson Wednesday night.
