OOLOGAH —?A beautiful night for baseball got even prettier for the Claremore baseball team.

A first-inning rally, highlighted by a three-run home run by Taylor Davis, lifted the Zebras to a 7-0 win over Oologah Friday night. Claremore improved to 16-6 while Oologah is now 19-6.

Dustin Weiesnbach set the tone early, doubling off the wall to lead off the game. The Zebras were just getting started. Weiesnbach scored on an error off a grounder by Brady Brim, who wound up at second base. Jeff Oxford single in Brim, and Bryson Vanover walked. That set the stage of Taylor Davis, who roped a three-run over the left field walk for a 5-0 lead.

That was more than enough for the Zebras.

Claremore starting pitcher Chance Knaust threw a gem at the Mustangs. He allowed just two hits. He struck out five and walked four, but never let the Mustangs get any momentum.

Oologah got singles from Carson Keeter and Braden Scott, and that was it.

Oologah pitcher Declan Evans settled down after the first-inning outburst. But the damage had already been done.

Claremore added a couple of insurance runs in the fourth inning. Brandon Ulhorn was hit by a pitch to start the inning, followed by a single from Weiesnbach. Garrett Wood sacrificed in Ulhorn and Brim singled in Weiesnbach for the final 7-0 cushion.

The Zebras got 10 hits on the night, led by Weiesnbach, Brim and Oxford with two hits each.

Davis led the way with three RBIs.

Also getting hits were Wood, Vanover and Noah Grimett.

The Zebras will be back in action this week when they host Tulsa Memorial at 4:30 p.m. Monday. The Zebras are hosting “Wayne McCombs Night.”
