LADY BULLDOGS REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN DISTRICT

The Wagoner Lady Bulldogs secured two victories last week, first against Catoosa at home on Tuesday then Inola on the road on Friday, to improve to 9-2 overall and 3-0 in district play. After a storm rolled through Wagoner on Tuesday just after 6 p.m., the girls’ game was delayed with 16:27 on the clock. The Lady Bulldogs were up 1-0. “That was a wild game,” Lady Bulldog Head Coach Brandon Carr said. “We were up when the storm interrupted us, and I was happy we got to resume it because we had the energy on our side.” Upon resumption, the girls put one more goal in before the half, making the score 2-0. Catoosa was able to score a goal in the second period, while Wagoner was able to score three more, putting the final score at 5-1. “We knew this was one of those games that we should have handled pretty easily, if we played to our capability,” Carr said. “There’s a point system when it comes to standings in district, especially for teams that are tied, so the four-goal win is good for us.” “The number of goals scored and margin of victory will help us out later,” he explained. “In district, the most goals that count is a four-goal difference, so I told them we needed at least a four goal differential. The girls went and did that.” Audrey Southern took five shots at the goal and put two in the back of the net, while Brianna Cox, Darci Masten and Liz Gray each contributed one. In total, the Lady Bulldogs took 27 shots at the goal. “It was a good game (Tuesday), we played well and everyone contributed,” he concluded. On Friday, the team traveled to Inola where they shutout the Lady Longhorns in a staggering 10-0 victory. Similar to Tuesday’s game, Carr said “everyone contributed.” “We dominated tonight,” Carr said. “The girls played extremely well, everyone got involved and hustled and we got a big win. I’m proud of them. We have some big games coming up in the next few weeks, so this was a good game to get the girls ready.” Seven Lady Bulldogs scored goals. Delaney Sloan had a hat trick, scoring three goals out of three shots at the goal. Gray scored two goals, while Cox, Southern, Masten, Molly Collins and Jordan Hatch each contributed one. Inola took few shots at the goal, very rarely making it past the Lady Bulldogs’ back line of defense. Ultimately, they were held scoreless in the 10-0 onslaught. The Lady Bulldogs will host Regent Prep on Thursday, April 14, followed by a road-game at Westville on Tuesday, April 18.
